Langston and his firm withdraw from representing Scruggs

It’s been quite some time since Joey Langston has been active in the Scruggs bribery defense, but his firm was still involved, or at least had its name on the pleadings.  No more. Here’s a copy of the notice of withdrawal filed today for Langston and the Langston Law Firm

UPDATE:  Here’s a story on Langston’s withdrawal from the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal.

SECOND UPDATE: Judge Biggers just signed the order allowing Langston to withdraw.  Click here to see it.

Latest word is Langston has copped a guilty plea.

  2. msman

word is he was arrested today on an indictment

I take it the comments reflect some of the rumors that the proprietor referred to in his last post?
No criticism of the commenters — our ethical burden is lighter, I think — but congrats to Rossmiller for keeping mum until there’s confirmation. These are indeed real people’s lives and professions at stake.

NOT a rumor, it is a done deal and ocurred today. Arrest, negotiation, plea deal and plea. DONE!
We will hear about it tomorrow I guess, kinda surprised it is not confirmed anywhere yet.

Mr Rossmiller’s quite right. Anderson is correct, and Scoop is not. It’s the point of losing personal freedom that is important. Rossmiller recognizes how sensitive this is. That’s appreciated.

I wonder how long the Gov can keep Joey Langstons arrest sealed? Any lawyers here know? If Langston did indeed plead to charges yesterday it really sounds like he is playing ball with the Gov.

Mr. Langston’s jet, a Raytheon Premier, tail number N484AT, serial number RB141, oddly, was listed for sale on January 8,2008, for in excess of $5,000,000. Sources: http://www.faa.gov tail number search and http://www.google.com search for N484AT. Wonder if there is a connection. Last flight was January 9, 2008 to Jackson. Source: http://www.flightaware.com My well placed sources from Oxford today say this is far, far bigger than just Dickie Scruggs if the allegations can be proven beyound a reasonable doubt.
